Food and Mood Education is an education programme dedicated to cementing a healthier future for all. 

One of the most fundamental things that we do every single day that has the biggest impact on our mental and physical health is currently not taught in our education system.

This needs to change.

Why do you need to bring nutrition education to your students?

​

Food has the biggest impact on children's mental and physical health. It is now the biggest cause of anxiety and depression as well as attributing to over 70% of the worlds diseases that we see today. The impact food has is being underestimated and its time that we take the lead for the sake of our children's health.

80% of teenagers diets are now made up of ultra processed food. We cannot help their mental health if we don't start with the basics first. Food!

Our world of food is now so difficult to navigate that we must bring effective education into our schools to help our children live the healthiest happiest lives possible.


I have worked in education for the past 11 years and have seen first hand the impacts that food choices are having on our children.

With a background in Nutrition and Sport Science, Fitness instructing, and Counselling, I have always been passionate about health in every education setting I have worked in.

 

However, I have never seen the level of mental health issues and lack of support that we are now experiencing. We are in a mental health crisis.  1 in 6 children have a mental health issue and 1 in 4 of our children are overweight or obese

​

Food is impacting your students grades, attendance, their ability to concentrate, retain information, their behaviour, as well as their mental and physical health. Studies show that children who have a better diet always achieve higher grades than those who have a poor one.

 

Food is something that can have such an impact in a matter of days, if a person does not have the basics needs met first, any mental health support that they do get will fall short.
